In advance our 2020 Convocation of Priests for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, we invite you to complete this short survey. We are grateful to Renew International and the researchers at the University of Notre Dame to allow us to collect data from priests in our Archdiocese to aid us in upcoming convocation. This information will be for our own internal use when we gather in Galveston April 20-23. One of our speakers, Sr. Terry Rickard, O.P. from Renew International, will be with us to share the results of our responses (and additional information from priests around the country who are completing a similar survey), and help us unpack how the current crisis in our Church is impacting our ministry as priests.
Your responses will be kept confidential and no identifying information is requested of you to complete the survey. It should take you no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete.
You will notice that a few of the questions deal with how priests with schools have been impacted. If you do not have a ministry with a school, you may simply omit those questions. This survey originated from the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) at Notre Dame. As a leading Catholic research university, Notre Dame is encouraging and supporting research to address issues related to the current U.S. Church sexual abuse crisis. It is particularly interested in understanding the crisis and how it has impacted Catholic education, including the parishes and pastors that support Catholic schools.
Please complete the survey by no later than Friday, April 3. If you have questions about the survey, or the convocation itself, please contact either Fr. Norbert Maduzia (nmaduzia@silcc.org) or Fr. Sean Horrigan (sean.horrigan@ctrcc.com), the co-chairs of the Ongoing Formation of Priests Committee.
Thank you for your time and for your ministry in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. We look forward to sharing the results with you at our convocation in April.
