"When you pass through waters, I will be with you;
through rivers, you shall not be swept away.
When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned,
nor will flames consume you." (IS 43:2)
Together, our Archdiocese has encountered one of the most devastating events in our history - Hurricane Harvey, in which 87 Parishes, schools or chancery locations reported damages. Four of our parishes suffered catastrophic loss witnessing their entire parish facilities submerged under water. Preliminary monetary damage to the Archdiocese is estimated at $25.1 Million. This does not include the harm done to the psyche and spirit of parish, school and chancery staff members or the laity of the Archdiocese which suffered the loss of home and personal effects. The convocation will be our first major gathering of the presbyterate since this disastrous event and thus, will be an opportunity for us to unpack the experience and look towards the future of this great Archdiocese.
Our time together begins the day after Pentecost, Monday, May 21, 2018 and concludes on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Each day we will unpack the mystery of the Holy Spirit moving and alive in the Archdiocese leading us to renewal and life.
